Tokyo Event Guest Speech

A Call for Greater Impact: Reflections from the Hibiya Midtown Event

In July 2024, I had the privilege of addressing a captivated audience at the prestigious event held
at Hibiya Midtown for the third consecutive year.
This event provided a valuable platform for discussing pressing social issues and fostering
a sense of community among like-minded individuals.

My presentation focused on the power of individual actions in driving positive societal change.
I emphasized the importance of each person recognizing and utilizing their unique
talents and resources to contribute to a better world. Additionally,
I touched upon the significance of how we choose to spend our precious time,
urging the audience to align their actions with their values.

While the audience’s response was encouraging, it became evident that there is a growing need for
Japan to play a more proactive role on the global stage. While discussions on improving individual quality of life
and enhancing women’s self-esteem are important, it’s equally crucial to address broader global issues
such as environmental sustainability and gender equality.

I was struck by the contrast between the depth of conversations on these issues
in other parts of the world and the more inward-focused discussions prevalent in Japan.
While discussions on women’s empowerment are vital, it’s also essential to address the systemic issues
that contribute to gender inequality and limit women’s opportunities.

Having recently returned from NY Climate Week, I found the focus of discussions in
Japan to be somewhat inward-looking. However, I believe that personal growth,
including financial stability and emotional well-being, is a crucial foundation for contributing to society.

It’s encouraging to see growing interest in these areas, but there’s still a significant gap in the number of
Japanese women who are financially independent and actively involved in philanthropy.

I’m committed to supporting more women in achieving financial independence and
becoming active contributors to society. By empowering individuals to reach their full potential,
we can create a more just and equitable world.
