Last month, I had a meeting in New York with World Being, a US-based NGO where I’m both a donor and a board member. The organization focuses on empowering young girls through education, helping them resist forced child marriage and pursue their dreams.
I was amazed to hear about the incredible transformations happening in Indian slums. Children who once faced a bleak future, with no roofs over their classrooms and forced marriages at 14, are now setting goals and smiling. Their teachers, too, have evolved into confident advocates, protecting their students from threats and fostering a love of learning.
To support this incredible work, World Being is organizing a fundraising event in December. When we met in New York, the board visited a potential venue: a stylish, members-only Japanese whiskey bar in Manhattan. The manager shared their passion for giving back to the community through Japanese whiskey, and I felt a strong connection to Japan, even though I was the only Japanese person there.
The fundraising party will be held in early December, so if you’re in New York, please come join us!
